NDIS funding and pricing changes: What participants should know

The Australian Government has announced changes to funding for some NDIS supports beginning 1 October 2026. Allocations for social, economic and community participation supports will be reset by 50%, and improved daily living skills supports by 10%, as affected plans are created, reassessed or renewed over the following 12 months.

This does not mean every participant’s total plan or actual spending will fall by those percentages. Participants can continue using their current plan until it changes. In-home supports, personal care and transport are outside this funding reset.

A separate safeguard allows some participants with 24-hour funded disability supports to request a plan variation if the funding change leaves insufficient support to maintain safe care or required staffing ratios. Eligibility and the evidence needed depend on the participant’s circumstances.

New 2026–27 NDIS price schedules took effect on 24 September 2026. The published maximum prices apply to supports for NDIA-managed and plan-managed participants.
